Due to be held on the 2nd of September, the Bottle Shop Concepts will be presenting MOULD- A cheese festival, celebrating the best of Australian Cheese from some top producers across the country, showcasing their products with live cooking demonstration. There will also be an on-spot bar including cider, beer, whisky and wines. Some of the best cheesemongers will be there with racelettes, flaming Reubens and grilled cheese sandwiches, along with baked goods to top up.
Open Gardens Victoria
Inspired by the natural fun environment of Australia, the tradition that started in 2015 will be taking place this year on the 3rd of September, with a golden opportunity to immerse yourself in some of the best gardens in Australia. Many garden owners in Victoria tender their garden in winter to display it in public during the spring season. There will be a variety of species on show, and you can also interact with the one who owns it.
Murder Mystery Dinner at Melbourne Zoo
In a unique setting at the Melbourne Zoo, this Murder Mystery Dinner on the 9th of September will be all about enjoying a 2-course dinner, dancing and solving mystery. The hottest disco in town will be waiting for you, as you come dressed in the finest attire of the 70s. You will need jumpsuits, punk gear, big hair and flares to stick the parts together for some killer moves. There will be a special cocktail of the 70s, along with countless beverages served over the night.
Montsalvat Arts Festival 2017
On the 10th of September, the Hill Crest Avenue will turn into an elegant space full of artistic vibes, with art demonstrations, children’s art workshops, live music, food stalls, and artists open studios. This is certainly not an event to miss, if your fancy bone tickles in the name of art. There’s also an Amor Self Portrait Prize where you can post your entries. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland By The Australian Ballet
This sparkling international extravaganza starting 12th of September will take you into Alice’s world of fantasy and fun, presented by the Australian Ballet at the Arts Centre Melbourne. This full-length series will bring vivacious vision of the classic book to life, with the widely renowned story ballet, coupled with inventive designs by Bob Crowley and melodic score by Joby Talbot. The Wonderland is brought to life with playful costumes, eye-bending illusions and puppetry as Alice meets the imperious Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter. She will be leading you through heavenly landscapes and strange adventures in a quest to save the Knave of Hearts.
Oyster Frenzy at The Botanical
If you are an oyster lover, mark the date 13th September on your calendar for a night of unlimited wines, canapes and oysters at The Botanical. This popular bar and bistro will be hosting an evening of crazy oyster consumption sorted from all across the country. A selection of dazzling red and white wines will be served throughout the event with special selection of cold and hot canapes. The Orlando Combo Jazz will also offer live entertainment. St. Francis’ Farewell Concert – Mooroolbark
St Francis Farewell concert is due to be held on the 17th of September and all the proceeds from this event will be going to church service. Although audience count has dwindled ever since the first service held on 17th September, the spirit has remained the same. Built by William Anderson in 1877, the largest 18 feet tall and pipe organ of 900 pipes will come to life with Alexander Maher-French Horn Program, Hanford Lam – Organ and including duo and solo works by Mendelssohn, Vivaldi-Bach, Alfven, Reichel, Handel and others.
Royal Melbourne Oktoberfest
Considered as the largest beer festival happening ever since the beginning of 19th century, the Royal Melbourne Oktoberfest will be celebrating 2 centuries of fun on the 23rd of September at the Royal Exhibition building. There will be folk dancing, German oompah bands and on-stage competitions in an electric atmosphere. This will be the first event down under featuring all six Munich breweries that participate in Oktoberfest. There will be as many as 50 imported German beers on show, along with spirit mixers, schnapps, wine and cider. Traditional meal will include bratwurst, schnitzels and pork hocks.
Melbourne Magic Show
We have all been a part of a magic show where magicians showcase their tricks, while you look on from a far seated position. The distance can be disguising and illusionary, as you are not able to connect with what’s going on. Lue Hocking will be breaking this convention to give you a chance to experience magic in close quarters. Everything will be happening right in front of your eyes, as he would spin his web of magic at the Marriot Hotel. In this close and intimate show, you will witness some impossible occurrences just inches from your face.
Vegan Thai Dinner at BangPop

On the 28th of September, the South Wharf restaurant BangPop will be presenting a seasonal dining experience for the curious and conscious-minded. A 6-course vegan Thai menu matched with vegan wines has been crafted in association with the guest chef Saruttaya ‘Na’ Lakchai. The tantalising menu will feature a noodle curry, and a warming jungle curry soup, with other seasonal menus. You will have ample time to take in the textures, colours and flavours of the presented dishes.
