Uncorked Balmoral Food & Wine Festival 2018
On the 7th of October, the Balmoral Reserve on the Esplanade is the destination for Uncorked food and wine festival. Entry is free of cost, but you need to pay for a wine tasting package. There will be a multitude of stalls to choose from to taste some sumptuous delights, or you can just enjoy live music. Good food, good company and wine make for a fascinating temptation to attend this event. The festival is brought to you by the Hunter Valley Wine & Tourism Association offering a wide selection of wines from wineries like Pepper Tree Wines, Allendale Winery, Tyrrell’s Wines and more.
Lifeline’s GIANT Castle Hill Book Fair
Lifeline returns to Oakhill College in Castle Hill from the 12th to 14th of October. You can browse through 50,000 books and help in fundraising for suicide prevention services. Apart from the books, you will also get DVDs, CDs and computer games at a fraction of price. You can buy fiction of all genres including poetry, romance and crime along with non-fiction of huge scope, including cookery, gardening, military, art and history. There will be an amazing range of young adult and children’s reading, along with special collectible editions on offer.
Lane Cove Rotary Fair 2018
The Lane Cove Rotary Fair brings over 100 food and market stalls, along with a host of entertainment on the 14th of October at the Shopping Precinct. Dedicated to serving humanity, the Rotary is about connecting initiatives and people to make projects happen. In addition to the food stalls and famous BBQs, there’s going to be a ‘Busk Off’ this year. Winners will be decided on the basis of their performance, how they interact with the audience, showing confidence and versatility and standing out among the crowd. On the other hand, sustainability experts will be talking about understanding electricity bills, cleaning without chemicals and talking about energy efficiency.
Sculpture by the Sea 2018
Currently in its 22nd year, Sculpture by the Sea is an exhibition that does not fail to impress. With all sizes, forms and types of sculpture, there is no limit to the imagination. Hundreds of entries are submitted every year and only few are selected by the panel for showcasing. This year’s event starting 18th of October will feature both national and international submissions. Prizes and awards are a big attraction for artists as well as a chance to have their sculpture seen.
Story-Fest 2018
Known to be the largest performing writer’s program in Australia, the Story-Fest 2018 is a 2-day event to be held at The Sydney Opera House and The Rocks on 19th and 21st of October. You will come across some of the wittiest wordsmiths in the world, with a program full of live literary acts, talks and poetry slams. There will be special performances from the 2017 Slam Champions Jesse Oliver and Solli Raphael before they give their crown to the new wizards. The event will be featuring performances from Canadian sound performer, novelist and poet Kaie Kellough.
William Street Festival 2018
Held in the heart of Paddington, the William Street Festival is a celebration of Paddington lifestyle and retailers of the street to be held on the 20th of October. This year, they have also collaborated with Istituto Italiano di Cultura and Head on Photo Festival for the outdoor cinema. William Street is a cosmopolitan precinct with great fashion, independent stores, pubs, bars and restaurants. It has a blend of iconic heritage buildings, styles and cultures. The main objective of the festival is to promote culture, while showcasing the diverse things that community has got to offer.
Light the City
A part of the Sydney Rides Festival, Light the City will be closing the event on the 27th of October, hosted by the City of Sydney and the SydneyCycleways. The event has been inspired by Halloween and it will be a night of entertainment, which is going to be both intriguing and fascinating. It is a great opportunity to cycle down to Mrs Macquaries Road without the cars. You will be able to ride the bike and discover point with no traffic, while walking past the lights and special effects. There will be a 2.5 km ring-way, which will have a field of beams, a tunnel of light, a rainbow path and more.
