In the past, these unfortunate individuals were enslaved, kidnapped, and tricked into working on cotton and sugar plantations along the Queensland coastline, between 1863 and 1904. The exhibition aims to tell the stories of their descendants.
Plantation Voices will feature never-before-seen original photographs, newly commissioned artworks, and rare historical papers. If you are a history enthusiast, this is an event that should be on your must-see list. In addition to discovering the untold stories of a community, you get to learn how their contributions shaped the state’s economic and cultural landscape over the past 150 years
Mitchell Fine Art
Mitchell Fine Art’s exhibition will be available until February 13, 2019. It is will be launched with Director’s Choice, which is an annual group exhibition. Visitors, especially art lovers, will be able to peruse carefully selected artworks from various artists. You can be sure that Director Mike Mitchell has chosen some of the gallery’s finest works to be displayed. The main highlight of 2019’s exhibition is on two Queensland artists: Peter Hudson and Ann Thomson. Chinchilla Melon Festival 2019
Chinchilla Melon Festival is one of largest Melon festivals in the world and it is hosted in Australia. The event is located in the western part of the Darling Downs region (approximately 3.5 hours from Brisbane) and will be held from February 14 to February 17. Chinchilla Melon Festival is a four-day event and is expected to draw large crowds from across the globe. Some of the sticky and slippery festivities include Trivia Night, Melon Chef, Melon Big Bash Cricket, the Big Melon Weigh In, Pub Beach Party, The Farm Tour, and many more.
Valentine’s Day at Jamie’s Italian
Love birds and foodies are in for a treat during Valentine’s Day. Jamie’s Italian is offering a romantic four-course dinner at $99 per diner. After a welcome drink of champagne or beer, you will be served three starters, which include bresaola, fresh oysters, and burrata. For the main course, the restaurant will serve rolled Aussie lamb breast that has been slow cooked in balsamic, Rotolo, and pan-fried market flat fish. For your flat fish dish, you can choose different dressings: caper butter and burnt lemon, or classic Sicilian Samoriglio dressing.
